Current Project

MEL1: Assessing retinal measures in Parkinson’s Disease (PD)

Instructions This involves each participant completing the typing test, whether or not you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. To get started, just enter the Research ID number and password that you have been given by the research coordinator. You need to do it twice, at 2 different times of day:
If you are taking levodopa medication for PD (such as Sinemet and the like), do the test BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR LATE-MORNING DOSE (and at least 4 hours after your breakfast dose). For example, if your first medication was at 08:00 this morning, then 12:00 is 4 hours later. Or if you took your first at 10:00, then 14:00 is 4 hours later. Also participants should not drink coffee or tea for at least one hour before the test.
1. Start the first test at 12 midday (or 4 hours after your first daily PD medication)
2. Start the second test two hours later
You can do this either on the same day as the first, or the following day (for example, if your first test was Monday at 12:00, the second could be either Monday 14:00 or Tuesday 14:00) If you are taking levodopa medication, TAKE THAT ONE HOUR BEFORE starting the test.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact the research coordinator Dr Christine Nguyen at christine.nguyen@unimelb.edu.au
